Day 1
It starts with visit to Gaj, the small place located not far from Lipik. The building of the parish court was most probably built by lord Isidor Jankovic. Here you will meet the parish priest Stjepan Skvorc who will introduce you to the parish church of St. Catherine of Siena, and the history and life of the parish community. This is followed by a trip to the state stud farm Lipik, which was founded by lord Isidor Jankovic back in 1843. This year is the beginning of Lipik’s connection with horses. Today, the stable complex is a monument that testifies to the Homeland War in which its buildings were destroyed, some animals were killed, and most of them were stolen. The alienated Lipizzaner horses were finally returned to Lipik in 2007, 12 years after the war was finished. After the stud farm tour with an expert guide you will visit the town centre which represents, in a unique way, the history and life of the noble Jankovic family. You will also get to know the past and present way of life of the local population. After sightseeing follows a break for lunch. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the Countess's shop, sauna and massage rooms, Count's beer or the beautiful landscapes of the area.
Day 2
After breakfast, departure from Lipik to Stražeman. In history, this place has been fortified town. Its name has been first mentioned in 1503, and since 1864 it has been owned by the noble Jankovic family. Unfortunately, during time the old fortress has been demolished. Upon arrival in Stražeman, the celebration of Holy Mass follows. You will get to know the rich history of the parish and the secrets that are hidden in this pearl of Pozega-Slavonia County. In the church, on the classicist altar, there is a picture of St. John the Baptist made by Tisov, and a granite tombstone of lord Isidor Jankovic with metal figures (figure of the deceased, mourning wife and allegory of death). In addition to the artistic and historical value of rare baroque frescoes from 1777, there are also relics of two Croatian blessed men. You will have the opportunity to meet the parish priest Robert Mokri and Father Josip Devcic, whose character and life deserved a film adaptation. After lunch, you will continue to Jankovac and thus respond to the invitation of lord Josip Jankovic: “I invite you to take a walk along the Count's path and enjoy the beauty of a special part of the Papuk Nature Park - Jankovac Forest. On the trail, with the help of educational boards, you will find out why I left the splendour of the Viennese court back in 1860, stayed in this peace and beauty until the end, and finally found my eternal peace here. Please, dear friend, take with you the scenes you will see from this place, leaving behind only your footprints." Lord Josip Jankovic was buried in a cave above the lake with a beautiful view of its valley and the hundred-year-old beech forest that surrounds it. Finish your trip in this oasis of peace, untouched nature and authentic experience.
